For the rest of today, a weak upper trough over the Southern
Appalachians will bring a few showers and maybe a brief storm
along the Cumberland Plateau. Otherwise, dry high pressure will
make things nice but warmer than normal. Tonight will be another
seasonably cool night with light winds and patchy fog.
For Sunday, dry high pressure will be the rule with sunny skies
and warm temperatures area-wide. Highs will be around 5 degrees
above normal for this time of year.

For the work week ahead, we will start with tropical low pressure
along the Southeast Coast. This is currently TD 9, likely to
become Hurricane Imelda. Dry high pressure will be anchored north
and west of the tropical system. This pattern will keep our area
mostly dry next week with temperatures remaining several degrees
above normal. The latest NHC forecast shows the tropical system
staying off the coast, but models have varied showing some of the
moisture being pulled inland with an upper trough, possibly
bringing some showers to the eastern fringe of our area.
Confidence is low on the forecast of the tropical moisture. Our
entire area could stay completely dry next week, or shower chances
could go up, particularly for the Plateau. Again, very low
confidence that we would see showers. Late week, models show a
backdoor push of slightly cooler and drier air with a trend toward
normal temperatures for next weekend.

Light northerly winds will dissipate some overnight, then veer to
the northeast after sunrise tomorrow. Any diurnal cu will also
dissipate after sunset, with clearer skies anticipated tomorrow.
For the light showers around CSV, minimal impacts are expected
and they should also dissipate after sunset, but will have to
monitor for light fog development there tonight and at SRB given
the slightly higher surface moisture and lighter wind profiles.
