.DISCUSSION... Issued at 212 AM MDT Mon Oct 6 2025

The remaining trough axis continues to drift southward today, but will still be producing some light precip across central WY through around noon today. As the trough axis moves south, it will allow northerly flow aloft to begin to carve out the low clouds across the state. Most areas should be nearly clear by late this afternoon. With the core of the coldest temps with this system still in the vicinity, temperatures will struggle to reach back into the 50s this afternoon. With clear skies tonight, another round of freezing temperatures is expected across all of western and central WY.

Behind this trough, a large ridge builds across the Intermountain West, paired against a large cutoff low settling just off the PacNW Coast. This should keep the weather more tranquil for the latter half of the week, allowing temps to recover back to near to just above normal in the 60s to near 70.

.AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z TUESDAY/... Issued at 439 AM MDT Mon Oct 6 2025

MVFR to IFR conditions across most terminals to start the TAF period. Low ceilings have developed across nearly all terminals west of the Divide with OVC003-010. KBPI is the one exception to this as it is on the outskirts of the cloud deck and will likely remain VFR. Terminals east of the Divide have seen precipitation end with the exception being KRIW and KLND were some isolated showers have developed nearby this morning. These showers should dissipate shortly after the start of the period. All terminals will likely remain MVFR to IFR for the next 3 to 6 hours after the start of the period. This is due to low ceilings persisting across the region with occasional visibility drops as well. Conditions should begin to improve by around 15Z with ceilings gradually raising and breaking apart through the afternoon and evening. Most terminals should begin to see SKC conditions by 00z Tuesday. Winds remain light across all terminals through the TAF period. Another round of fog/low ceilings may be possible for Tuesday morning but confidence remains low at this time. KJAC and KPNA have VCFG starting around 09Z Tuesday to indicate this possibility. Mountain tops may be obscured for much of Monday morning with decreasing obscuration throughout the afternoon.

Please see the Aviation Weather Center and/or CWSU ZDV and ZLC for the latest information on smoke, icing, and turbulence forecasts.
