.DISCUSSION...
Key messages:
- Warmer and drier weather through the rest of the work week, with morning frost and fog possible
- Return of showers and thunderstorms possible late Friday into this weekend
Low clouds and light showers continue early this morning along the Divide as an upper low slowly works southeastward into Wyoming. Additionally, areas of clearing mainly from the US 93 corridor and westward will allow for areas of morning valley fog.
Otherwise, high pressure ridging building over the Intermountain West today through the end of the work week will bring a shift back to warmer and drier weather. Cool mornings will give way to warm afternoons. Fog and even some frost will be possible each morning, especially in the higher elevation valleys near the Continental Divide.
Forecast models are beginning to show a flattening of the ridge Friday afternoon into the weekend, though there are some disagreements on the timing of this occurring. As the ridge flattens, westerly winds and the potential for showers and thunderstorms will increase, as daytime temperatures cool somewhat again.

.AVIATION...
Low clouds, mountain obscurations and light showers continue early this morning along the Divide as an upper low slowly works southeastward into Wyoming. Areas of clearing mainly from the US 93 corridor and westward will allow for areas of morning valley fog. Otherwise, high pressure ridging builds in this afternoon lasting through much of the week with warm and dry conditions as VFR conditions dominate. Winds will be relatively light overall but an easterly gradient today and Wednesday will bring breezy winds to ridgetops and west-east canyons that funnel east winds.
