.DISCUSSION...
The dominating feature for our weather is a ridge currently residing over the Pacific Northwestern region, which will keep our temperatures near to just above normal and keep skies free from clouds. A feature that will affect us later this week is a low pressure circulation currently spinning off the Southern California coast. This will introduce showers as early as Wednesday evening to the Eastern Sierra, south of I-80. Chances for Wednesday evening are checking in at 10-35%, the higher chances found along the ridge in southern Alpine and northern Mono counties. These chances increase Thursday as the low center draws nearer, moving over the Central Valley of California. Once the low migrates over land, it becomes a bit cutoff from the main steering mechanism of the jet, allowing the circulation to spin over California and Nevada through the end of the week. Chances Thursday increase to 15-65%, with the highest expectations for showers near the same locations as Wednesday. Friday, lesser chances across Mono County of 10-20%, with some showers spreading into Mineral County.
Into the weekend, showers may linger across the Mono/Alpine/S.Lyon/Mineral counties region, all dependent on how long the low stays cut off from the flow. For now, chances will range 10-25% through the weekend, which is subject to change as we watch this cutoff low slowly meander across the area.
Details for early week are still being worked out as there is some minor agreement in blended guidance for another frontal boundary to approach from the northwest. There is some discrepancy around just how far south this boundary will slide, so some may see showers while others experience only gusty winds. HRICH
