.DISCUSSION... Issued at 318 AM CDT Sat Sep 6 2025
Currently, high pressure is building into the area behind the frontal boundary that passed through the region yesterday. This is resulting in much drier and cooler air overspreading the region. Most of the cloud cover has shifted off to the south of the area, and temperatures have dipped into the upper 40s to lower 50s early this morning. We could see some patchy radiation fog develop over the next few hours, especially in our south-central and southeast Kansas counties. Light westerly winds this morning will turn south- westerly by midday.
For the next couple days, a stout surface high will be centered over the Upper Midwest, extending down through the Central Plains. This feature will sustain below normal temperatures with highs in the 70s and overnight lows in the 50s to lower 60s. We can also expect dry and mostly sunny conditions through the weekend making it ideal weather to get outside.
As we move into next week, the ridge to our west will begin to build back over the region. This will lead to a gradual warming trend with highs in the lower 80s to begin the week and temperatures nearing normal in the middle to upper 80s for the middle to end of the week. We will also have a couple of opportunities for rain with the best shot currently looking like Monday/Monday night as an upper level short-wave moves across the region with corresponding 850mb WAA increasing. Additional spotty chances exist through the remainder of the week, but probabilities currently remain low.

VFR conditions through the period. Light and variable winds this morning will turn southwesterly for all locations by midday. Some patchy fog has developed across primarily southeast Kansas this morning and will linger for the next couple of hours. There is very low confidence on coverage, timing, and duration of the fog and was not included in the TAFs at this time.
