.DISCUSSION...Any lingering isolated showers over SE Oregon will dissipate over the next couple of hours. Clearing skies will set up a cool overnight lows and expect fog to form, especially in sheltered mountain valleys that have seen recent rainfall. Looking at a mild day tomorrow with a few showers and thunderstorms possible over the w-central Idaho mtns east of McCall and Lowman. A higher chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected on Sunday as another trough approaches the region. The current forecast is on track.

.AVIATION...Isolated showers and thunderstorms will taper off this evening with mostly clear skies overnight. Patchy fog overnight in mountain valleys, including near KMYL/KBKE/KBNO. Isolated showers and thunderstorms redeveloping over the central ID mountains Saturday afternoon. Surface winds: variable less than 10 kt, becoming W-NW 5-15 kt Saturday afternoon. Winds aloft at 10kft MSL: NW 5-15 kt.

KBOI...VFR. Light SE winds overnight, becoming NW 5-10 kt Saturday afternoon.

Sunday Outlook...A trough and cold front will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to the area in the afternoon and evening. Storms may bring MVFR/IFR conditions, mountain obscuration, gusty outflow winds up to 45 kt, small hail, and heavy rain. Surface winds SE-SW 5-15 kt in the morning, becoming W-NW 10-20 kt in the afternoon and evening behind the cold front.

.PREV DISCUSSION... SHORT TERM...Tonight through Sunday night...An upper level trough continues to weaken as it moves eastward today. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will generally be anchored over the higher terrain through this evening, due to weak steering flow aloft. Showers and thunderstorms will dissipate after sunset with the loss of daytime heating. Good radiational cooling expected tonight with patchy fog on Saturday morning. Saturday will be mostly sunny in the afternoon between systems, with temperatures near normal. A potent trough moves over the area on Sunday afternoon, with showers likely north of Burns to McCall with scattered thunderstorms areawide. Gusty outflow winds up to 45kt possible Sunday afternoon and evening with the storms and cold front. Heavy rain also a threat with the storms as precipitable water values will be in the 80-85th percentile. Some of the CAMs models are showing a quick 0.50 to 1.50 inch of precipitation with the storms. Flash flooding threat around burn scars will need to be monitored. Monday will cool to around 10 degrees below normal.

LONG TERM...Monday through Friday...A ridge will build into the area on Tuesday with mostly sunny skies and temperatures returning to near normal Tuesday and 5 degrees above normal on Wednesday. After Wednesday forecast confidence is low as the model solutions diverge significantly.
