.SHORT TERM... (This evening through Monday night) Issued at 113 PM CDT Sun Sep 28 2025
An upper level ridge extends from northern Mexico to the central Plains this afternoon. Surface high pressure was centered over the central Mississippi valley region, and winds across our CWA were generally light. The airmass remains dry with dewpoints mostly in the 50s. This is allowing for large diurnal temperature swings. Lows this morning were in the 50s and 60s again. Temperatures this afternoon are in the 80s and most of the area will have highs in the lower 90s. An upper level trough will move into western TX tonight into Monday and this will bring some mid to upper level cloudiness over the Southern Edwards Plateau. These clouds will keep high temperatures down a few degrees Monday, but otherwise not much change is coming through the short term period.
&&
.LONG TERM... (Tuesday through Sunday) Issued at 113 PM CDT Sun Sep 28 2025
The upper trough will move across TX Tuesday. But, the surface high will keep drier air over our CWA, and dry weather will continue. There will be some warming in the middle of the week. Highs will reach the middle 90s across most of the area outside of the Hill Country Wednesday and Thursday. Winds will shift to the east Thursday bringing some cooler temperatures Friday through Sunday. Still no rain through the long term.

.AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 113 PM CDT Sun Sep 28 2025
VFR flight conditions will continue through the TAF period under a mostly sunny sky this afternoon. High clouds then increase into and through the day on Monday. Northeast to easterly winds of 5 to 10 kts should trend during the afternoon and evening hours at the I-35 sites before becoming light and variable through the overnight. At KDRT and for locations along the Rio Grande, the winds will trend more southeasterly of 10 kts or less.
