.DISCUSSION...

Today through Wednesday...

Sunny warm and dry conditions remain in the forecast through the Monday. A west to east moving trof will push a weak dry cold front through the area late tonight, bringing cooler but still well above normal temperatures and breezy northwest winds to the area Friday (upper 70s). Winds settle down and temperatures increase for the weekend with highs getting into the mid to upper 80s over eastern areas Sunday which should be the warmest day of the forecast period.

Monday continues to be warm but a few more clouds will hold temperatures a few degrees cooler over western zones as a Pacific trof begins to impact areas along the divide and west by late in the day. Unfortunately for those looking for precipitation, the Pacific trof gets pushed back to the west a bit on Tuesday and opens up on Wednesday allowing energy to flow eastward across southern Canada and northern Montana.

This pattern is not conducive to significant precipitation over our portion of the northern Rockies, though 20 to 30 percent chances will exist over the western high terrain Tuesday and Wednesday, and we may leak a light shower or two into the plains Tuesday night (20% chance). With the ridge flattening out temperatures will taper off closer to seasonal levels (currently in the lower 70s) by Wednesday (still in the 80s Tuesday), and maybe some highs in the upper 60s by next Thursday. Chambers

.AVIATION...

VFR conditions will prevail through the forecast period. Late tonight into Friday, a dry cold frontal passage will bring breezy northwest winds back across the region. With this, gusts will generally be in the 15-30 kt range, strongest over the foothills west of KBIL and over eastern Montana by Friday afternoon. BT
