.DISCUSSION... A north to south progressing cold front is beginning to cross the region and will complete its passage by later this morning. A couple of showers did accompany the front across the Adirondacks earlier but these have since dissipated and dry weather is expected areawide through the rest of the night and today. This front will advect a cooler, more seasonable and drier air mass into the region as high pressure gradually builds southward from Canada. High temperatures today will range from the 60s in the higher elevations to the 70s to near 80 in the valleys. Some clouds will be around through this morning, then a trend to a clear/mostly clear sky is expected by later this afternoon into tonight. As the high builds in tonight, a clear sky and light to calm winds will promote ideal radiational cooling conditions. Temperatures will fall back into the 30s to mid-40s for most areas. Frost/freeze conditions are likely across portions of the southern Adirondacks with temperatures falling in the upper 20s to mid-30s where frost advisories and freeze warnings have been issued.
The high will be directly overhead on Saturday promoting continued dry conditions under a mostly clear sky and highs in the mid-60s to lower 70s. Another chilly night is expected Saturday night with lows once again in the 30s to mid 40s. Frost/freeze conditions may occur once again across the Adirondacks but may also expand into the Upper Hudson/Lake George region. The high will shift eastward over New England on Sunday but another dry and seasonable day is expected. With a light southerly return flow developing late in the day and Sunday night, it will not be as chilly as previous nights with lows mainly in the 40s.
South to southwesterly return flow will be in place early next week ahead of a low pressure system and cold front. An increase in moisture combined with a passing shortwave or two should aid in at least isolated to scattered rain showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Precipitation chances are favored across areas north and west of Albany on Monday and areawide on Tuesday. There is some uncertainty whether or not we will become post frontal and trend drier by Wednesday or if additional showers will be possible. Due to uncertainty, will keep low chance PoPs for Wednesday and a return to drier weather by Thursday as another high pressure system builds overhead. High temperatures much of next week will be in the 70s with some upper 60s at times across the higher elevations. Lows will be in the 40s and 50s.

.AVIATION /05Z FRIDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/... Through 06Z Saturday...A cold front will push southward across the area through the early morning hours. Mid level clouds will increase along and behind the front at KALB/KGFL/KPSF. Cig heights expected to lower to MVFR levels at KGFL prior to 12z and possibly at KPSF. Cig heights expected to remain VFR at KALB although a brief period of MVFR cannot be ruled out. Clouds will gradually scour out by this afternoon, with skies becoming clear late in the day.
