Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Huntsville AL 1022 PM CDT Thu Oct 2 2025

...New NEAR TERM, SHORT TERM, LONG TERM...

.NEAR TERM... (Rest of tonight and Friday) Issued at 1022 PM CDT Thu Oct 2 2025

As an upper level ridge and subsequent sfc high pressure continue to influence the Tennessee Valley, dry weather persists through the near and short term periods. Tonight, low temperatures are forecast to drop into the 50s with light winds from the ESE. Winds should mitigate any patchy fog formation through the area. High temperatures tomorrow are forecast to rise into the upper 70s to mid 80s before cooling back down to the 50s overnight.

.SHORT TERM... (Friday night through Sunday) Issued at 1022 PM CDT Thu Oct 2 2025

As sfc high pressure and subsequent dry weather continues, we expect a pleasant weekend for outdoor activities. Highs are forecast to be slightly above-normal, reaching the mid to upper 80s in most locations. Overnight lows are forecast to drop into the upper 50s and 60s.

&&

.LONG TERM... (Sunday night through Thursday) Issued at 1022 PM CDT Thu Oct 2 2025

An upper level trough is forecast to push eastward through the Mississippi Valley by early next week, placing the Tennessee Valley in a favorable location for some low to medium rain chances returning to the area. However, model disagreement remains persistent and therefore there is low confidence in these rain chances materializing at this time. If there is any interest in outdoor activities next week, be sure to check back for details as we progress through this weekend.
